Genevieve Nnaji's Scenes Cut Out Of Half Of A Yellow Sun ?

We were all excited when Genevieve Nnaji was cast in Chimamanda Adiche’s Half of A Yellow Sun yet-to-be-released film directed by Niyi Bandele .But that excitement might be short lived as there are reports that her scenes have been cut off. According to E24-7magazine .....

Genevieve’s scenes weren’t expressly important to the story, a reliable source that has seen the movie told E24-7MAGAZINE. “I figured that because of Ms Nnaji’s way of acting, her character dragged the storyline, so it was cut out during editing. Obviously, if she was good enough like Onyeka Onwenu, she would have been given a major role in the film.

“Her minor role was compensation to Nollywood. So, the film producers might be apologetic for cutting out her parts, as she should not try to go to the cinemas to see the film with her family members, else she will give herself heartache.”

It was a very intense exercise for the post-production team; in fact, they ended up cutting out some characters from the book to beat time in order to stay focus and professional. Test audiences, we gathered did not like those scenes.

According to the source, the director realized some footage may not be needed and unfortunately many of those scenes involved the Tango with Me star actress, such that if she appears on screen at all, it will be in a significantly reduced capacity from what her role was in the script.

Yes, you may get to see her in a party scene. This development, no doubt will be shocking to her fans and observers of the industry because of her status and influence but it is a usual occurrence in other climes to cut actors out of finished films

Shameful Deceit tells the story of Elizabeth (Theodora Ibekwe) who has to deal with her philandering husband, Simon (Lanre Balogun). Elizabeth, a strong marriage advocate is torn between her belief and the devastating pain of betrayal.

Shameful Deceit is producer Ibekwe’s second feature after her foray into filmmaking. Ibekwe is receiving guidance and support from Nollywood veterans, director Ruke O. Amata and actor Lanre Balogun. Theodora Ibekwe said: “ Given the production quality we are going for, it was such an honor to have Nollywood veteran, Lanre Balogun and Moji Bamtefa of acclaimed sitcom ‘Meet the Adebanjos,’ UK’s first ever Black British comedy sitcom, audition for roles in this movie. Their participation ties in with our goal of making a socially conscious, yet highly entertaining movie. ”

With talented cinematographer Don Tino working on industry standard equipment, producer Theodora Ibekwe promises her viewers “just over 90mins of soul-searching and entertainment.”

Bloggers Diary:How a Lagos big girl landed in trouble for slapping/threatening man with a gun

So I've been experiencing a severe case of writer's block.Well, on Tuesday night was at 1004,Victoria Island Lagos..for those who don't know,its a high brow apartment estate in Lagos.So,I was there trying to ~~purchase some property~~ ..Ok I was there working till about 10pm. I came out to get some fresh air and lo! a serious argument ensued between this young,flashy creamy chick(late 20's) with a white Murano jeep,and a Hausa guy of about 40 years in a red Toyota Camry 2011.

The lady parked by the side of the road and the guy who was trying to navigate through the tight space,brushed her car slightly.(there was no dent). She started screaming and shouting which was understandable at first .This guy suddenly grew angry and was alluding to the fact that her car had no dent and her screaming was uncalled for. This lady was adamant,"do you know who I am?I'll deal with you".Before you say jack Robinson,she goes to her car pulls out a gun(I now realize was a teaser) and pointed at him threatening to blow his head off.She claimed she was an SSS officer.

As per Hausa guy who wasn't scared,he dared her to shoot and said he wasn't scared of her gun.(everyone thought it was a gun including himself).Then he wanted to walk away and she held him back threatening to slap him.He said"If you slap me,i'll slap you back". By now,people had trickled to the scene and were calming her down.She didn't listen oh..So,i stepped out for a bit and by the time I returned,the situation had escalated as she had slapped him already.

She tried to walk away but the man who had pulled off his shirt in rage ran after her,blocking her.Though he was boiling,he restrained himself from touching her.
So,some ladies came out,and took her into their apartment while the man was cursing and shouting,sitting on the road and almost in tears as he couldn't believe a lady half his age would do such to him..All pleas by several men for him to ignore it and leave fell on deaf ears.

Someone called the Police and when they came, they asked her to show her ID since she pulled out a gun. She didn't have any.They started calling her a criminal and before you know it,they called for a backup van.By this time,this same lady who claimed to be a big girl started begging oooo. I was stunned. Hian! Wasn't she the same one who was bragging some minutes back?

All the people she was calling failed to show up..when she noticed it was the world against her,she resorted to explaining and begging.

Apart from a few men who wan toast..lol , a lady ,and one particular middle aged man, no one came to her rescue as they ordered her to enter the police van.She begged and begged""I'm sorry,I said I'm sorry nah".The Hausa man refused to listen to her o.The men who witnessed her earlier rant and threats,said no,she must go because she assaulted the man...all her pleas fell on deaf ears.They didn't use force on her(kudos to the Police)but they made sure she went with them...

I felt ashamed for her....why brag when you cant back it up...yes,we are ladies,the weaker sex but please sometimes we overstep our boundaries.
She was also very lucky the heated exchange took place in an enlightened place like 1004,if not...would have been a different story(I'll share a shocking story with you all by weekend)

Rick Ross escapes assassination attempt after 15 gunshots+ 50cent laughs

Who's after the boss? Rick Ross's birthday ended on a bad note as there was an assassination attempt on his life.He was shot at 15 times yet he escaped unharmed.

According to TMZ, Rick Ross smashed his Rolls-Royce into a building in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida early this morning while trying to escape from a gunman who opened fire on the car ,The rapper had just dined at a restaurant on Las Olas after celebrating his 37th birthday at LIV nightclub in Miami with Diddy, Ludacris, and French Montana. He was behind the wheel and the passenger was his girlfriend, Shateria L. Moragne-el, 28

According to local reports, "dozens" of shots were fired at the vehicle around 5AM -- none of which hit the Rolls. Several buildings in the area WERE struck by gunfire.

Cops say another vehicle had pulled up next to the Rolls ... when someone inside opened fire on Ross' car.

Ross' Rolls reportedly crashed into a building while trying to speed away from the gunfire.

Wife sends musician packing 3weeks after society wedding

An upcoming musician, Gbemi Adetuberu, married to Ibadan society lady and interior decorator, Laide, has been booted out of the latter’s apartment allegedly for physical assaults barely three weeks after their society wedding on November 8, 2012, at one of the Akure branches of RCCG. Mrs Olaide Adetuberu reportedly sent her husband, Mr. Gbemi Adetuberu, out of her apartment for allegedly making the heat in the kitchen unbearable for her with his endless beatings.

It was alleged that Gbemi was seen 20 days after the N4m wedding, beating the living daylight out of his wife in Lagos during an event that had foreign guests in attendance. The interior decorator was said to have kept mum over the battery allegation but eventually did opened the Pandora box after getting the nod of her lawyer. The lady confirmed that she had been through hell in the hands of her husband.

She described her husband, Gbemi, as a violent husband whom she had hoped would change in marriage. Hear her: “He used to beat me even before we got married, but I believed he would change once we got married. I was wrong.”

Claiming that she had invested millions of naira in her husband’s musical career since they started dating a year and a few months ago, Laide said Gbemi was not appreciative enough “to show some seriousness in his career” to justify her investment in his life. “He had always been interested in music, a passion that I passionately invested money in just to please him even though my parents wanted him to be a prophet. Because I wanted to support him, I paid almost N200,000 for him to participate at the NIMEX exhibition held at the Muson Centre, apart from other amounts spent on him”, she added.

At the exhibition on November 28, both had agreed that Laide would stay in the car outside the venue of the exhibition to get some rest as she had been exhausted by preparations for the event, and that Gbemi should join her in the car once he was done auditioning at the event. Gbemi was said to have been through in less than 30 minutes after he was called on stage, but didn’t go to join his wife in the car as both had agreed. Worried, she looked for Gbemi and found him chatting with an usher.

Not wanting to cause a scene however, she walked up to her husband, asked the usher to excuse her as she wanted to talk to her husband, and both strolled into the venue of the exhibition.

They talked briefly but Laide said she could sense from her husband’s countenance that he was getting worked up. Laide ignored Gbemi, who had shouted at her that they should leave the event and go home. “He didn’t care whether we were at a public place, he continued to raise his voice at me”, she said.

Laide said she was ashamed as Gbemi continued to shout at her that she should leave Muson Centre start going home. She refused to do as she was instructed by her husband and his next action was to slap her. “I was stunned.

He just kept beating me right there in public and astonished guests couldn’t do anything. It took the intervention of security officials before I could be rescued from him. He beat me blue black. I never expected he would beat me like that in public. I had expected that he would wait till we got home, he didn’t. He has come to beg me, but I am afraid of losing my life because that is how he has been beating me from time.

Even my friends warned me not to marry him because each time he came to beg me after beating me, I always forgave him. But I’m now afraid for my life”. She said that her in-laws were aware of the ugly development, but that each time she reported Gbemi, his parents always waded in and Gbemi would always promise not to beat her again.

She also said she reported these beatings to some of her friends. “After the Lagos beating, I decided to send him out of my apartment because the suffering was getting too much for me. I reported to the police at Iyaganku in Ibadan, because he has started threatening me via e-mails since he can’t come to my house. I have refused to take him back but I’m still afraid he may break into my house one day to injure me.”

However,the musician, Gbemi is yet to say his own side of the story.

"I was not speeding..I just found myself inthe water"-Man who plunged over 3rd mainland Bridge speaks

He is indeed a lucky man. On saturday 26th jan 2013,I guess you all heard about the man whose car skidded off the road and plunged into the 3rd mainland bridge but was miraculously rescued by fishermen.Though traffic officials said he was over-speeding ,Mr Olusola Oladimeji, the driver and owner of the Toyota Sienna said he wasn't.

He told his version of what happened to Punch..

The father of three who is a minister of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Church, said he was on his way home from work when the incident occurred. He narrated his experience to Punch:
“I work on the island and I left home for a meeting in the early hours of Saturday. After the monthly environmental sanitation, I started driving back home. I was driving at the speed of 60km/hr and was on the fast lane because the road was free. At Ebute Meta bypass, I saw two vehicles that had been involved in an accident but I kept on driving. Suddenly, everything went blank, I couldn’t see anything again, and I just found myself in the water.”
He did not lose consciousness in the water and as such, he unfastened the seat belt and swam towards a ray of light.
“I was not on high speed. When the car hit the railing of the bridge, the airbag was not released. After falling into the water, I unfastened the seat belt and noticed that one of the doors of my car had broken off, so I swam out of the vehicle to the surface of the water even though I don’t know how to swim. It was while I was waving my hand that fishermen saw me and quickly came to my aid. They took me away from the scene and took me to a clinic located on the water where they administered the first aid.”
Oladimeji was later taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital where an X-ray scan was conducted on him. Although his leg was not fractured, it was cast with Plaster of Paris because he had a sprain.
When Punch visited his home, members of his church were seen coming to felicitate with him. One of them, Praise Onanuga, a pastor at MFM, Berkeley Parish, said the victim had just bought the car eight days before the accident.
“He bought the car just eight days before the accident and we were supposed to do the dedication today (Sunday) but we thank God that we were not put to shame. We will hold a thanksgiving for him soon because this is a miracle.”

Chris Brown & Frank Ocean engage in physical fight

Chris Brown is is the news again.This time it has nothing to do with Rihanna(Thankfully) but self-confessed gay singer, Frank Ocean.
According to TMZ, Brown was attempting to leave L.A.'s Westlake Studio, where he had been working with one of his artists, when Ocean and his crew approached him. Ocean allegedly blocked Brown's exit and said "This is my studio, this is my parking spot."

Brown purportedly tried to calm the situation by attempting to shake Ocean's hand, but he was attacked by a member of Ocean's crew. From there Chris shoved him and the fight ensued between the singers.

Police were reportedly called to the scene and are currently investigating the incident.
This wont be the first time as in 2011,they had a heated twitter argument.'
